Methodist Children’s Home operates multiple programs on a single campus. Police responses to this campus often do not identify the program they are responding to. All reports plausibly related to the PRTF or Qualified Residential Treatment Program/Group Home (QRTP) have been included here. Where we can be certain the response was to the QRTP it is noted.

Contact with family (Calls and visit schedule): Clients have regularly scheduled phone call opportunities. The number of actual calls depends on the clients wish to utilize these opportunities. In person visitation (assuming no quarantine precautions) is available every weekend and can be scheduled at other times as needed by the family or guardian.

Staff stated the facility was broken into over the weekend. Staff stated when she arrived, she observed damage to property. Officers did not observe any signs of forced entry. Staff stated suspect likely gained entry through an unlocked window at facility. Only property missing was assorted candy from offices within building. Staff stated she would contact police once the security video footage was reviewed.

Staff stated one of the kids were out control & having a hard time following instructions. Another employee stated that Juvenile was trying to drink ink from a pen, punched a wall and refused to get off the floor. Juvenile is currently being evaluated by caseworker.

Terroristic Threatening First Degree
QRTP – Staff stated that during verbal altercation with Juvenile, Juvenile threatened to leave the facility and return with a gun. Staff also advised Juvenile had made a personal threat towards him, threatening to kill Staff. Juvenile was issued a citation to appear in court and was transported to Methodist Acute Hospital in Maumelle.

Staff stated that evening, 2 juveniles damaged cabinets, cameras, ceiling tiles, and chairs to the downstairs day room. Staff advised the following morning (2/25/19), one of the juveniles damaged more property & threw books in the downstairs day room. Value of damage unknown at time.

QRTP – Staff stated she was at library when Juvenile ran off. Juvenile had a verbal altercation with another juvenile. Juvenile had told Staff he didn’t want to ride in the van with the other juvenile. Staff told Juvenile she would find another means of transportation, but Juvenile fled. At approximately 1748 hours, Officers were advised Juvenile had returned to facility; Officers verified.

QRTP – 4 Residents were in a fight over a pair of shoes Juvenile 2 was wearing. Juvenile 3 approached Juvenile 1 after Staff had already broken up the fight and punched him in face. Staff stated she believed the aggressive approach by Juvenile 2 to Juvenile 1 was the primary cause of the fight.

QRTP – Caller stated 2 people followed her on Facebook threatening to beat her up and kill her. Caller stated the 2 people are threatening her because she dates one of their cousins ex-boyfriend. Caller advised they were at her school making the same threats.

QRTP – Staff advised Officers that Juvenile was having a behavioral episode. Staff advised Juvenile needed to be transported to the hospital. Juvenile was transported by MEMS to Methodist Behavioral in Maumelle.

QRTP – Caller stated he was in charge of watched the kids that stay at that house, and when a resident asked to go outside he said no. Both got into a verbal argument but it didn’t become physical. Caller stated he called police because he was short staffed, and didn’t want matters to escalate. Both parties stated they had cooled off and Officers were no longer needed.

QRTP – Staff advised Juvenile left residence around 2120 hours; Juvenile had stated she was going to find her mother. Juvenile called stating she was at a pharmacy; Officers responded to pharmacy. Juvenile told Officers she hated the facility and would run away again on Monday. Officers transported Juvenile to facility without incident.

QRTP – After “horse-playing” with another juvenile, Staff told Juvenile to stop; Juvenile told Staff not to yell at him because it was a “trigger”; After another juvenile at facility to Juvenile not to be rude to Staff, Juvenile became very upset & stated he needed to leave the location before he hurt someone. Juvenile later calmed down.

QRTP – Staff stated Juvenile left location around 2000 hours. Officers circulated area with negative results. On 2/3/2019 at approximately 1610 hours, Officers were informed Juvenile had been located in Hot Springs. Juvenile was removed as missing from all systems.

Officers circulated area with negative results. 1 Juvenile was located in Sebastian County; Staff at facility informed Officers Juvenile had been discharged from facility. Juvenile would be held at JDC until Logan County picks her up.

QRTP – Officers responded to secure scene for MEMS. Juvenile stated he took “crack” five days ago and was having chest pain; Juvenile stated he usually does meth. Juvenile stated he didn’t know where he got it from. MEMS transported Juvenile to Children’s Hospital. DHS met Officers at hospital to take custody of Juvenile.

Staff stated he would like to make a report of a Juvenile assaulting him; Staff stated Juvenile became very irate and began punching and scratching him. Officers observed minor scratches on Staffs neck and ear. After Officers stated he would need to go to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Staff stated he no longer wanted to make a report and didn’t want to go to court.
